Val DuVernet was bit by the clay bug at an early age when her school art class was run by Studio Potter, Jane Dalton. She thinks the mini raku kiln on the grass outside the art room sealed the deal. Over the years the passion came and went but recently has returned with a fever and Val is happy to feel in it and of it.
A student of community studios as well as plenty of youtube videos Val is in an "on" phase with her pottery that she hopes will last for the rest of her life.

I primarily work in wheel thrown pottery and have an obsession with making larger and larger work - not quite there yet. I enjoy carving my work and lean towards what some call hiroglyphics or carving with a native/organic feel.
Glazes can still be a mystery to me but I like to layer or sometimes use only oxides. Still looking for who my "clay person" is but enjoying the hunt.
